TREATMENT FOR CERVICAL CANCER

March 3rd, 2008 by Aaks

The affected cells of the cervix are removed from the body and also the doctor takes measures to prevent the occurrence of the disease. as the cancer is characterized by the presence of tumor cells and these cells have to be completely destroyed for the normal functioning again. Usually surgery takes place after the treatment of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Surgery is done in order to remove all the cancerous cells that are still present even after the procedure of radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

The treatment of cancer begins only after an analytical study is conducted by the doctor. This study is attained by them by conducting biopsy and other tests. If only the outer layer of the cervix is affected then the treatment becomes easier for the doctor. In case the infection has spread internally then the doctor must take extra care.

Before treatment the doctor must consider the metastatic level of cancer. the doctor removes the cancerous cells that are present in the organ and to what extent it has spread. The factor of metastasis is known to the doctors by conducting tests and diagnosis.

When the cervix has affected then the precancerous lesions develop and the disease can be treated during this phase only because later it becomes complicated. This lesion is removed by using the technique of cryocautery. Many points regarding the cervical cancer should be taken care of. The doctor must enquire the patient about the associated allergies. He must view his physical status very carefully before beginning any treatment. The cervical surgery conducted by the doctors aims to remove the cancerous cells by the application of chemical agents.

The type of surgery to be conducted depends upon the intensity of the disease. if the disease has developed to a diabetic patient then it must be dealt carefully. He must make him adopted to the physical condition before conducting surgery on him.

Hence cancer, if treated at an initial stage will work out effectively. The treatment finally depends upon the phase of development, time and intensity. If the cancer has spread to the other organs it can spread to the other organs. When the disease advances the treatment for the patient becomes very difficult. Even if the disease is treated the doctor cannot ensure the non-recurrence of the disease.

TESTS FOR CERVICAL CANCER

March 3rd, 2008 by Aaks

The main diagnosis and tests that are conducted are:

Pap Smear test:

This method is similar to biopsy where the doctor extract a part of the affected tissues and examines it under microscope. This test determines to what extent the infection has spread. The doctor can clearly decide about the further treatment. The method of coploscopy can be used to confirm the presence of cancer.

Pelvic examination:

It is an examination for examining the state of the cervix by inserting hand into the patients cervix. The doctor uses different instruments to insert his hands within and get the feeling of the cervix into his hands. Usually cancers are characterized by the growth of tumors inside and when he inserts hands into it he feels the tumorous growth inside. This method gives the doctor a definite idea about the picture of the cervix.

Coloscopy and biopsy:

This method gives the entire picture of the cervix region by the means of specialized tools. The combination of coloscopy and biopsy is used to test the presence of cervical cancer. the cone biopsy is a method of removing the tissue is extracted in the cone shaped and then examined under microscope.

Apart from the above tests even blood tests are performed to know the statistics of various blood contents into the body. In this way the doctor is able to determines the functioning of the kidneys to know the presence of cancer. if there are any abnormalities noticed then there is a chance for cancer.

Imaging tests:

Other techniques are CT scan, protoscopy, chest x-ray to test the metastasis effect involved with the person. This test is very reliable and the infection can be determined perfectly through these tests.

SYMPTOMS FOR CANCER

March 3rd, 2008 by Aaks

There are many types of cervical cancers but the tumor growth or abnormal functioning is present for all types of cancers.

The disease can be cured completely if the diagnosis is carried on at an early stage. The treatment at this stage becomes easier. This disease is occurring many deaths among the female population. The symptoms are usually relate to the abnormal functioning of the vagina. Hence these symptoms should be treated as early as possible. These are the symptoms relating to the cervical functioning:

  1. Unusual bleeding:

The organ that is mostly affected by the cervical cancer is the vagina. When the tumor develops inside the cervix oozes blood then it is discharged from the vagina. If the woman notices any unusual symptoms like this then she must consult the doctor immediately. The type of abnormal functioning for the cervical cancer vary from woman to woman.

2. menstruation cycle:

during menstruation the woman notices some changes in the quantity and also quality of discharge. If she visits the doctor early then it persists only for shorter time, otherwise the symptoms continue and lead to harm.

3. pain in the pelvic region:

the person experiences pain in the pelvic region due to the abnormal growths of cancer into the organ. Also at the time of urination, the person feels the pain and discomfort. He faces the problem while defacing also. This symptom should be taken into consideration as soon as possible. Due to the cervical cancer other abnormal feelings are experienced. If these discomforts are faced for a longer period then he must consult the doctor.

4. pain and bleeding during the intercourse:

when the person carries sexual intercourse then he experiences a lot of pain during these periods. Some woman commonly face blood discharge from vagina after intercourse. When the person faces menstruation course extra blood may be discharged from the vagina. These are all the associated problems with cancer.

like the other types of cancers, the disease should be treated as quickly as possible. The diagnosis or tests that are conducted by the doctor helps them to determine the intensity of the disease, the extent to which the disease has spread and development of tumors if any.

TYPES OF CERVICAL CANCER

March 3rd, 2008 by Aaks

As cancer can occur to any part of the body it can affect any cells or tissues. When the cancerous cells develop in the cervix it is known as cervical cancer. as more and more fatalities are casued due to this disease the facts about cervical cancers are often been read in magazines, newspapers etc. the types of cervix cancer can be divided based on the cells or tissues attacked. This disease is causing many deaths worldwide. The cervix contains two types of cells. One is the glandular cells and the other is the epithelial cells. The consequences are the same for both the types. The malignant tumor that grows in the cervix differs according to the type of cancer he is facing.

Usually the disease does not spread rapidly. The disease is benign until it affects the other organs or other parts of the body. But the disease becomes more severe when it affects the other organs like liver, kidney, lungs etc. but once the disease becomes metastasic then the treatment of the cancer becomes difficult because all the cancerous cells have to be destroyed.

There are two types of cancers that affect the cervical part:

  1. squamous cell carcinoma:

these cells are present on the lining of the cervix. The cells that are affected from this cancer are the epithelial cells and the skin cells. Cancer basically originates from these cells. Hence this condition is referred as squamous cell carcinoma.

  1. adenocarcinoma:

this disease occurs rarely in a person and it accounts to be 5% to 10% of the total cases. The cancerous cells for this type of disease originate from  the glandular secretary cells. These secretory glands secrete mucus fluid for the cervical region. The cells are affects and later they become cancerous in nature.

  1. Lymphoma;

The lymph nodes form the connective tissues in the body. When they are affected by cancer they spread the disease across the entire body. This form of cancer is very rare in cervical cancer and does not occur mostly.

CAUSES FOR CERVICAL CANCER

March 3rd, 2008 by Aaks

Today cancers are one of the diseases that cannot be controlled. Some of the root causes of cancer are not yet known. This disease is basically unpredictable by nature as it can occur to any age group and anywhere in the body. The cells just grow excessively or abnormal cells are produced in the body. In this way the functioning of the organ is also not normal. When the cancer is at the initial level the person cannot experience any discomfort feeling. But these cells become malignant and lead to health hazards. Even today the medical experts are studying about the causes of cervical cancers inferring from the previous records. We must be aware of the risk factor because we must take steps to prevent it.

Here are some of the primary risk factors associated with cancer:

  1. Human papillomavirus:

This factor is the leading cause of cervical cancer. this risk factor is associated with HPV factor. Most of the cervical cancer cases are linked to HPV cases only. The infection from HPV can be easily transmitted. The HPV are of many types and there are ten viruses that cause this cancer. this factor is easily transferred through sexual intercourse and at the initial stage if preventive steps are not taken then it can spread very easily. As the person delays for the check up the chances of occurrence increase.

Improper sex life:

The person should follow guidelines for having sex also. If the sexual life begins early then the chances of occurrence increase and if the sexual activities take place without any proper usage of contraceptive methods then the probability of occurrence increase.

Alcohol and smoking:

If a person has a habit of excessive smoking and consuming alcohol then the chances of occurance surely increases. Even the previous records from the medical examiners show that smokers and drinkers faced from the problem of cervical cancer. these factors are not only the causes for cancer but they enhance the development of cancer such as malignant tumor.

Weak immune system:

The immune system in our body prevents from the entry of unhealthy organisms that cause problems. If this system has turned weaker then your body does not have the capacity to fight against the harmful organism every time and hence you become diseased.

Besides, if we know that the problem of cervical cancer was already seen in our ancestors then we must take extra care of ourselves because we are more closely associated with the risk factor that should be avoided by us.

SOME FACTS ABOUT CERVICAL CANCER

March 3rd, 2008 by Aaks

This disease is causing nearly thousands of deaths every year and in the developed countries like U.S. almost 4500 woman are dying in a year. This disease is considered as a dangerous disease because the rates of deaths are increasing day by day. Cervix is situated at the lower part of the uterus and it leads to vagina. When malignant tumors develop in this region then the condition is known as cervical cancer.

Medical experts have stated that the chances of occurances can be reduced just by leading a healthy lifestyle. This disease usually affects woman. The chances of occurrences are high in woman after she reaches the age of 60 or more. Some of the younger woman also develop it but the rate of incidence is higher among old woman. According to the survey conducted the people from minor race face the maximum risk. This disease usually occurs due to the ignorance of some matters. When the woman knows about the facts relating to the cervical cancer then she can drastically reduce the chance for development. Some awareness programs should be conducted to know about the recurrence of cancer.

When the woman gets her diagnosis done then she is usually detected with squamous intraepithelial lesions. This develops only after 10 years after the development of cancerous cells. Hence the woman should visit the doctor as early as possible and have a proper screening. The woman should be properly aware of the stage of the development so that she can start the treatment as early as possible. The occurance of cervical cancer is often associated with the unhealthy habits and lifestyle as per the medical experts. Like the other cancers the symptoms of this cancer cannot be easily noticed by the woman. The symptoms associated to this disease are also unique at the same time. It is really difficult for the person to get diagnosed by the doctor because she cannot know about the symptoms early. Hence she must be educated in these matters.

But there are some risk associated factors that increase the chances of occurrences. The hereditary factors play a prominent role in this regard.  Additionally if a person has an improper sex life then he becomes easily prone. This disease causes metastasis very easily. It usually spreads to the organs like liver, kidney, lungs etc. when the disease spreads to the other parts it becomes more malignant and fatal. The earlier the symptoms are identified by the person the quicker the treatment takes place. The phase for development in case of cervical cancer is slow and hence the effects are easily recognized in the later stages. The woman should hence continuously know the happenings within herself and learn to tackle the disease. she should attend to the doctor periodically and gets tests and diagnosis done.

INTODUCTION TO CERVICAL CANCER

March 3rd, 2008 by Aaks

A cancer is a condition where abnormal cells or excessive cells are produced in a specific organ. The infection of cancer may spread to the other organ also. The lower part of the uterus in a woman that connects with vagina is known as cervix. When the organ is affected by cancerous cells the functioning of the organ is not normal. This condition is known as cervical cancer. If the cancer is neglected for a long period then it becomes malignant. the cervical cancer is said to be malignant when a tumor develops inside the organ and if it is neglected for a period time, then you have developed cervical cancer.

The root cause of cervical cancer is unknown just like the other types of cancer. but there are some risk associated factors to this cancer. the rate of incidence is not very high because this disease occurs only in woman as cervix is a part of woman’s uterus. When the cancer becomes malignant it becomes fatal. Just like the other cancers the disease can be completely cured only if it is in the initial stages.

The spread of cervical cancer is slow. It progresses very slowly to the other tissues and organs nearby. Hence the disease can be detected at an early stage. The main cause for cervical cancer is to sexual contact and having an improper sexual life. It is closely associated with papillomavirus as this organism is spread through sexual contact. Like the other cancers this disease can be easily occurred to people whose family members have already had it. If your ancestors had developed it you are more vulnerable to it.

A person suffering from this disease may suffer from bleeding or discharge also. This symptom creates suspicion in the minds of the person that some risk is associated with it. If the person notices any of these symptoms the person must immediately report it to the doctor. The doctor conducts diagnosis and test to confirm the presence of cancerous cells. The doctor usually conducts screening tests and pap smear test to exactly know the picture of the cervix. When a person notices any abnormalities related to cervix at a developed stage, he must immediately report it to the physician. It is really difficult to treat a person at this stage. Deaths have already taken place due to the late reporting to the doctor earlier.

Sometimes vaginal bleeding can take place due to this disease but everytime it does not indicate cervical cancer. if there is a continuous discharge you must immediately report it to the doctor. The doctor conducts screening tests and gets diagnosis done. The most effective form of treatment is chemotherapy and surgery is done after chemotherapy. As a procedure the doctor first conducts pap smear or screening tests and later on carries out surgery. After surgery he conducts chemotherapy to completely destroy the cancerous tissues that were not destroyed during chemotherapy. In this way they operate the patient in such a way that the disease must not recur again.

This disease is causing several deaths for female population and seriously steps should be taken to regulate the rate. The woman should be aware of the symptoms and consequences and they must be properly educated regarding these issues.

Treatment For Pancreatic Cancer

February 10th, 2008 by Aaks

Surgeries: Surgery is the best option when the cancer has spread only in the localized area. If a tumor has developed in the pancreas then it can be easily operated and extracted. At this stage the cancerous cells can be removed. But this method cannot always work out effectively because the infection might have already spread to the other organs but because you are not experiences any pain or any other changes you may not realize it.

Radiotherapy:

It is a method of inserted radio waves into the body in order to destroy the cancerous cells. Or sometimes the radio waves are even fixed outside the body and this method is known as external radiotherapy. The cancerous cells are destroyed by the radio waves because the cancerous cells are more reactive to radio reactions. But there are severe adverse effects due to this method because sometimes the normal cells in the pancreas are also destroyed.

Chemotherapy: Under the method of chemotherapy, the whole body is treated. A specific organ is not treated under this therapy. It is a method where the chemical substances are passed to the body by directly injecting into the organ. These chemical agents pass through the blood stream and destroy only those chemicals that are cancerous. Like radiotherapy, even this treatment may lead to side-effects.

Some doctors even use the combination of the above treatments if suitable. Radiotherapy actually removes the cancerous cells into the localized areas. Before conducting radiotherapy usually a surgery is performed first because the large tumors can be removed only if surgery is done. The technique of radiotherapy is used only to free the organ from cancerous cells. The technique of chemotherapy stops the possibility of occurrence.

A person suffering from pancreatic cancer avails treatment based upon the infected area and the severity of the disease. When the cancer is prevailing in the pancreas alone, then he receives localized treatment. If the infection has spread across the nearby tissues, then he receives locally advanced treatment. He should avail more advanced treatments if the infection has spread to the most important organs of the body due to cancer such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgeries. Under radiotherapy, the radio waves are passed to the body to destroy the cancerous cells. Under chemotherapy the chemicals are passed into the body to destroy the cancerous cells by means of injection.

Most of the patients are usually allergic to treatments like chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Whether a person should avail the treatment of radiotherapy, chemotherapy or any other surgery, it all depends upon his medical records, severity of the disease, allergies and the type of disease. If the patient is diagnosed at an early stage he may survive for five years, but if he is diagnosed at an advanced stage then he can survive only up to one year.

As the disease is spreading widely all across the nations at a rapid rate efforts should be taken by the professionals, government and the individuals to reduce the rate of incidence. Among the common people a sense of awareness should be created so that they shall take the necessary steps to curb it.

Indeed many people in the world are suffering from this fatal disease. No doctors till today have been able to discover the exact cause of the disease. They say that there are several reasons for this cancer. Almost 97% of the people till today who have suffered from this disease have passed away. Hence they suggest that it is wiser to take preventive steps other than relying on curative methods due to the occurrence. Till today no reliable treatment has been discovered.

Diagnosis and test For Pancreatic Cancer

February 10th, 2008 by Aaks

Many kinds of tests and diagnosis are conducted today to detect if the phase of cancer has already occurred in a person. Through the tests and diagnosis, the medical professionals can determine the organs which are affected by cancer. The various kinds of tests are:

Diagnosis and tests are conducted to determine the extent of infection, the organ that is infected by cancer, severity of the disease and the chances of survival. Through the tests and diagnosis staging is done. The stage of the cancer is determined. If the patient has already reached the third stage of cancer, then his chances of survival are almost nil.

1. Abdominal Ultrasound: Under this treatment, the radio waves are passed through the abdominal organs. This test is conducted just to determine the severity of the infection and the spread of the cancer to the other surrounding organs. If a person is suffering from any symptoms like jaundice, fever etc, they can be noticed. This test is carried in order to know the type of treatment that should be used. Tests like CT scan, MRI scan are also conducted to ensure that the pancreas is attacked by cancer. This test shows the spread of the disease into the whole abdominal cavity.

2. The Abdominal Computed Tomography: This test is conducted to know the exact picture of the pancreas. Because accurate state of the pancreas cannot be obtained in tests like ultrasound technique. But when this test is conducted even a small benign tumor can be noticed. Sometimes when a tumor or abnormality is noticed in the Ultrasound test, then advanced tests like the above is conducted to ensure. This test also presents the exact picture of the extent of development and the areas that are affected. The provision for treatment becomes easier.

3. Biopsy: It is a sample test when a tissue affected by cancer is removed and examined under microscope. There are different types of biopsies such as percutaneous biopsy, Endoscopic biopsies.

Under percutaneous biopsy, a needle is inserted near the affected organ and then with the help of CT image technique the exact area that is affected is determined. In this way, the sample is taken and the infected organ is determined and suitable treatment can be started.

4. Different blood tests. Blood tests determined whether the other organs are affected by the spread of cancer. Sometimes, a patient may for a check-up because the other parts like kidneys are not functioning normally. After the tests, he may be confirmed that due to the development of pancreatic cancer he is facing other problems. After conducting the blood tests such as chest x-rays should be conducted to know the severity of the disease.
